vito doors wont lock.please help

Hello, im new to the site and im hoping one of you knows more than my mechanic and his electrics guy.i have a 2004 vito and i cant close the front doors ,the door latches arnt latching.every thing works off the button the buttons go up and down , we cant find anything mechanical wrong with the locks .In short when you push the latch on the side of the door that should clamp around the door catch it isnt locking into place.
Please help as im at a complete loss.

Maybe its mechanical, are the latches in need of position adjusting?
